Goblin Battle Standard

Goblins are surprisingly easy to anger. In fact, they could start a war over cloth!

The Goblin Battle Standard is an event-summoning item that initiates the Goblin Army event when used. The Goblin Battle Standard is consumed when used, so one must be crafted for each invasion the player wishes to summon. In order for it to be used, at least one player in the current world must also have 200 health or more.

The Tattered Cloth required for crafting the Goblin Battle Standard is obtained by killing Goblin Scouts, which spawn occasionally in the East and West thirds of the world.

This can be useful for farming Spiky Balls or to help obtain the Goblin Tinkerer without waiting for the Goblin Army event to start naturally.
It is also useful in Hardmode for farming Goblin Warlocks and the Shadowflame weapons they drop.

Trivia

The Battle Standard has the face of a Goblin Sorcerer on it.
The Goblin Battle Standard can be seen on the Goblin Punter achievement.
This item may be a reference to the Roman aquila, a standard of significant value carried by Roman legions. These standards were highly safeguarded and would be retrieved at all costs if they were to become missing.
